I wonder what people mean when they sing ‘Fall Afresh On Me’. I remember earlier in my journey applying the song to church meeting occasions. It’s a song of great significance to me and helped me a great deal to focus whether it was preaching a sermon or sharing a testimony or something along those lines.
Years later the song means even more to me because what I’m asking for is virtually a daily call to die to me and rise to life in CHrist filled with God’s Spirit. My capacity to function in the day at home and at work is necessarily determined by my willingness to be broken, refined, reformed and enlivened by God. I see now that not makking that connection gave plenty of room to part-time Christianity, one that would gain applause from those in the church meetings, but making no difference to those outside. Now however things are very different. Now it’s not just a case of accepting life in twain but live a united life filled with the Spirit open to learn from others as well as share with the eyes to see opportunities to build others in the holy faith whilst giving people food for thought as to what life really means.
All because of this song of consecration that isn’t just for church services and ‘spiritual’ activities but to realise all life is one spent broken, purged, moulded and filled by God.
