Across The Bridge

I grew up in a good Christian home. Two loving parents who did their best by their children and three children who did their best to get the worst out of each other, but behind which there was a bond and an affection that was really realised when we all left the family home and had to learn how to grow and get by with each other.

In these times of becoming accustomed to life outside the roost and developing a new roost with my wife and children, I still hark to some of those memories of the first roost where things said or done have a new poignancy. Today whilst reflecting on the troubles of this world, I ws reminded of a song my Dad would sing whether at home or at church. Back in the day I’d obviously ignore or chuckle at him as he sang, but now, the words of the song he sang provides comfort and consolation. Not in the memory of way back when, but in the hope all followers of Christ have as reflected in Revelation 21:4. As I remember it today I am compelled to share the lyrics of that song and trust if you hold onto a similar hope that it will impact your life today in a positive way.

Across the bridge,

There’ll be no sorrow.

Across the bridge,

There’ll be no pain.

The sun will shine,

Across the river,

And we’ll never be unhappy again.

Thank you Father for giving me a Dad who would sow such seeds in song to me then, that they would draw me closer to You now.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
