I am a creature of routine. I like my set patterns. They offer a sense of security and rhythm in an often insecure and erratic world.
One area in which routine is important to me, is me blogging. Whenever I am inspired to write, I have over the last year or so endeavoured to post the entries at a set time. The eagle-eyed reader should note there are usually 4 time-slots I’ll use for a blog entry. It works for me. There’s significance in those times and I have remained content with that pattern for as long as it has been set.
Things change.
I have a laptop from which I usually post me articles. It is a faithful laptop and I love typing on it especially in times when there is a rich vein of inspiration coursing through me. Although I’m not the tidiest man in the world, through thick and thin, the laptop has stayed with me. As it happens me wife also has her own laptop (see how generous I am!) however hers recently suffered technical problems and is currently on the blink. The reason why we both have laptops is because more likely than not we’ll both be needing them for various purposes. So, ever the gallant gentleman, I allowed her access to my laptop. (Yes, I know, how loving of me.)
It is not the first time an arrangement like this has been made and usually there is an understanding between us that she’ll have her time and then I’ll have my time – that’s fair, you see. On this occasion, however, things were a little different. I never had the inclination to draw her away from her laptop usage. I was more than content for a day to go by without using me laptop. For anyone who knows me, this is strange behaviour – almost the kind of thing that would have people questioning whether I was actually da man cd.
Fear not. As I reported a while back, my loving wife recently acquired for me anew phone in the light of the theft of my previous one. I’m not one for choosing phones. Not bothered about what the latest deal is, or what the greatest gadget is. I’ve been content with a phone that texts. In her wisdom, though, my beloved got one of those ‘smartphones’ with a qwerty keyboard on it. Me brother opened me eyes to its capabilities, like writing and keeping notes, being able to follow twitter and news stuff when i needed, and even being able to blog from my phone! At first the program that enabled me to blogwent unused as I was unable to schedule when the entries. So I was happy to stick to laptop blogging. However, in the light of recent events, and considering how I have used the phone to make copious notes as well as incessantly text (ha!) it just made sense to break with tradition.
So now, with the availability to blog from wherever there is a connection, I’ll do so as and when. It might mean more entries. Or not. It could mean shorter entries. Or not. What it very well may mean is formatting and grammatical errors.
This is by no means the end of my laptop blogging at all. The plan is to resovle the wife’s technical issues as soon as possible. It is to embrace more fully life in the smart lane. Enjoy.
For His Name’s Sake
