I remember doing Religious Education at school and to a large degree, despite being brought up in a Christian home, I wish this description was given to me then. Having said that, this does not suggest that the explanation given is comprehensive. What it does, however, is give people an insight into the centrality of the story – as long as Jesus Himself remains the centre of the story – and nothing else – then at least it gives a real historical link to something with eternal consequences.
