It comes from absolutely leftfield for me because I don’t often take the time to consider these issues in great detail, although I come across related issues like these occasionally. I watched the clip and it really got me thinking about so many issues.
Veena Malik could have been anyone from another religion which is intertwined with the cultural identity where things get complicated and confused and the religious experts become moral assassins quick to bring down people’s characters for not measuring to their own standards. I’ve seen it in Christian circles and it appears fairly frequently even if there is no religion as such and we depend on the expertise of the educated or elders.
It’s a remarkable piece and it makes me wonder, how do you respond to something like that? What do you reckon?
