So I spent February in the book of Matthew and March going through Proverbs. April sees a break from the month long series on a particular theme. There might be little themes cropping up and the occasional mini-series, but it’s a breather, to get some odd bits and pieces that rattling along in the mental libraray of dmcd.
I am of the opinion that we can often take things for granted. Concepts that we’ve used all our lives are so much like second skin to us that there’s little attention paid to what it really means and whether or not we’ve really got to grips with the something and also how we would convey that to someone who has no idea what we’re talking about.
God appears to take great delight in having seasons in me life where he rattles everything to allow me not to take the fundamentals for granted. Just when I think it’s safe to believe I’ve got me definition of something all safe and cosy, He addresses this – sometimes to reaffirm and deepen it, sometimes to show how shallow it is, sometimes to show how wrong I am and sometimes to challenge me to live by what I know.
This video by John Piper was very helpful in again addressing one of the fundamental issues on the whole Christian journey that is what I do in my connection with God through Christ – namely pray. This won’t be the last you come across the prayer issue or question, but it’s worth considering what Piper says and how you’d respond to it.
For His Name’s Sake
