Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. (Proverbs 27:1)
Making the most of the present is a gift that saves a lot of hassle both from past actions and especially from future preoccupations. Failure to appreciate the present and go swanning off into what we expect to happen to the future leaves us in a precarious position of engaging in something never guaranteed to us. Rather than making the boast in that, it makes sense to focus on what is present and so avoid that unnecessary heartache.
