DMCD Songs: You Are Awesome In This Place

When I first heard this song and sang it a couple of times I was in a church gathering.  I remember getting caught up in fervour in one situation at the thought that indeed He was awesome in the place I was in.  So as long as I sung it as I would sing it in the gathering of the saints, that was all hunky dory to me.

Later, however, I was challenged about what it  meant to worship God and what that song actually means.  I was challenged to consider it along with the Praise Looks Good On You life implications – as in it looks good as much in praising in bad times, challenging times, in different arenas and scenarios as it does ‘with the saints’ in the typical church gathering.

So God’s awesomeness is not reserved for the gathering of saints in a specific geographical location that we cordon off as the sanctuary.  That division was bust wide open with the Cross.  Now He is awesome as much whilst teaching young people jobsearch skills, or when I’m on the 1705 from Northampton to London Euston as He is at Family Prayer Time or among the saints in corporate gatherings.  That has some huge implications and really gets to the core of what it is to be awesome.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
