No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. (John 15:15)
You may not feel comfortable approaching Him as Lord. It may not be that easy to relate to Him as Redeemer. Seeing Him as the Son of God may cause an inferiority complex.
He says that He is not just Lord, but He is a friend. We are friends, because He gives access to His deepest desires. In doing this, as with any good friend, He does so in the hope that we share it with Him.
He also shows His friendship by laying His life down just for His friends.
That’s what friends are for.
