Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John8:34-36)
It is an age old story – a people in peril, under oppressive slavery, in need of a hero to set them free.
Whether the children of Israel in Egypt or those said to be under oppression in Communist regimes, there is something heart-warming about seeing people once persecuted liberated.
Yet these stories only give a little indication to the human condition enslaved in sin. Bound in legalism or stuck in lawlessness. No other hero could be found – no rule or law, no power on earth to save us.
None until He who sets free came to the rescue.
For His Name’s Sake
