Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)
The contrasts of Jesus are amazing.
God’s Son born in a manger. The Great One from an insignificant background.
Here it is again – Messiah describes Himself as gentle and low in heart. This has much to say to us, especially in the context of inviting us to rest. The condition is to take on His character.
He who brings healing is not built on pride. He presents Himself as someone gentle, as a suffering servant so in Him others might see how we are meant to be.
Behold this great King and behold this gentle and humble Example.
