Behold, a king will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule in justice. Each will be like a hiding place from the wind, a shelter from the storm, like streams of water in a dry place, like the shade of a great rock in a weary land. (Isaiah 32:1, 2)
Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Matthew 16:16-18)
A hymn and a chorus would come out centuries later regarding Jesus as a Rock in a weary land and a shelter in the time of storm. There is great assurance and reliability and protection in the revelation of Jesus Christ as the Son of the Living God. So reliable and sure is it that even the greatest efforts of the enemy forces cannot stop the inevitable Kingdom of our God – a rule of justice and righteousness. That level of insurance and assurance should bring peace to the most troubled heart.
For His Name’s Sake
