Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” (John 2:19)
Jesus was outraged.
His Father’s house was being abused and his anger consumed him. He cleansed this place by removing the cancerous elements.
Yet his words to the Jews were astounding – no wonder the audience were perplexed. How did He intend to reconstruct something that had taken decades to build initially?
Fulfilling all that had indicated Him previously, Jesus was not only the Lamb of God and the High Priest, but completely astounding those who would follow Him, He revealed that He was the Temple – with huge consequences for those who would seek to worship the Father.
