Last week I put up a track of Donnie McClurkin paying tribute to Stevie Wonder with a track that does what all good tracks do – mix a great melody and great music with insightful lyrics that take you out of the comfort of your surroundings to the harsh social responsibilities people have.
I should have left it right there. But no. I come across this version of the same song by The Dixie Hummingbirds which must have been quite the thing to hear in a church back all those 34 years ago! It wouldn’t be a problem now of course, but back then?!
So you’d have thought that was enough. I also come across this outstanding version done live by Bebe Winans (and he’s got an album version that he does with his brother Marvin as well as some dude by the name of Stevie Wonder).
I was obviously going to keep it to myself and tell nobody else, but that would be greedy wouldn’t it? And I’m not greedy – therefore – enjoy.
For His Name’s Sake
