So as you might have gathered, I’ve spent some time on the blog catching up with the Walter Hawkins tribute concert that took place earlier this year. Thanks to my sister who sent me a link to these videos showing at least one of his last performances fittingly singing ‘Marvellous’.
Fitting because in most people’s psyche even singing that song under the conditions the man endured would baffle most. Some would be suggesting that to even state that what was done was ‘marvellous’ was some sick joke. Yet, thank God for the renewed mind that sees the divine hand of the Almighty in even the most distressing and painful of circumstances and whilst not basking in the misery, the new perspective gives peace in the circumstances and also recognises that once and for all on the return of the King of all Kings and Lord of all Lords even pancreatic cancer will be defeated.
So thank you Lord for what Walter has left and the ability to praise you even in enduring terminal situations, knowing that truly to live is Christ and to die is gain.
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
