To My Dad

Quite a bit to say in the blog at this time, but what I want to start off with is a big thank you to God.  On the one hand, I really did miss regular blogging and internet activity and me own laptop.  I liked the level of regularity I’d built up over the months and was looking to keep that going.  The level of disruption has been a bit of a hassle and it bothered me.  On the other hand as with a number of other events that’s happened in me life it reminds me again that the quality of my life is not determined by electronic devices and modern technology but contentment in Christ and everything else is a God-given bonus.  Don’t get me wrong though, I am glad to be back!  (That is stating my hope and belief that I am back in this writing business.)

Anyway, with all that said and done, let’s get to the heart of what I wanted to share at this time.  My Dad celebrates his 77th birthday today and that above other birthdays is a big deal for me.  In the same year he turns 77 I turn 33 and I was caught with those connections.  It led to me thinking about a number of things regarding my Dad.  In the year that saw the birth of of my third and possible final child I return again to the theme of fatherhood.  I consider that and must return to my Dad.  I was considering how he epitomised and embodied qualities of hard work, commitment, consistency.

So I just give God thanks that when it came to seeing how to be a man, husband and father He set me up really well with a role model like my Dad.  I would want to develop those priceless qualities to enable me to enjoy the best of what life has to offer and that could only happen because of my Dad.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
