Singing. Music. I sometimes wonder what it is about words to tunes and then accompanied by music that makes the combination so exhilarating. What is it about sometimes the simplest words and the simplest tunes that transport the senses beyond the regular to another plain of existence entirely.
Then I realise once more it’s all about the spirit. As Jesus shows when He walked on the earth, there was more to life than the clinical approach to the law. Indeed the law realised was full of life and the spirit that energised it came from the heart of the Law-Giver in the first place. That is what is so well presented when we hit on a good song. Don’t need complicated lyrics. Don’t even need a lot of lyrics. Something short, sweet and simple can do just the job and that’s what this Don Moen thing does.
As with a number of songs we sang it at church, but it’s always refreshing to take on different versions and let the Spirit do what He needs to do.
