When I was growing up in the family home in the 1980’s and 1990’s, I was only vaguely aware of the Contemporary Christian Music scene. One of the names I came across in that there scene was Michael W. Smith. Not that I heard any of his material. I was far too busy with other types of gospel music. I belatedly gave him a go in the first decade of the 21st Century and glad that I did. He’s alright is Mike, and there’s a track he does which I particularly love that I’ll post if I can find it.
As you may have gathered, it’s not this one. In fact, I post this because of my Fijian connection back in Stoke-on-Trent in the heyday of 2006. As I enjoyed a spiritual renaissance, a great deal of it was because of some committed well-meaning and loving brethren from that area. All Nations for Christ they were called and they shared the facilities StokeCOG were using at the time. Pastor Asela (aka Isaiah) was the lead dude for the prayer meeting they ran on Friday evenings at the time. It was an open meeting and I was invited to attend by Hughie. Good call on his part too. I fell in love with them and their way of worship in song which introduced me to a lot of songs I had not heard before, one of which was this one.
I loved it then, I love it now – just the sheer desperation and dependence on God by His Word and Spirit living in me, through me for His glory. Great song and memories of some great times in encounters of the divine kind with some great folks who meant well for Jesus. Indeed I remain lost without Him and desperate for Him as the scripture suggests that those who hunger and thirst are satisfied, so I’m at my best and most content when I’m in a state of desiring Him above all else.
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
