Recently I was sharing how perspective helped to change a potentially very difficult situation into something extremely positive. Worth reading to catch up on exactly where we were.
I need to establish a bit of a context for this. I arrived home from a disorienting day at work where I didn’t feel that I fitted and then went on to Bolton to be awkwardly put there as well. As well as that I never had a meal through the day so I was eager to get me mitts on something to chomp on. Dear Authrine, however, had one of those days.
After an important event on Monday and the positive vibes about that, she was having difficulty with what goes on in the aftermath. These developments had a bad effect on Authrine as she sank into a bit of a mood. This was an anxiety for her and had her troubled. I can understand her condition, but I appreciated that I needed to have a different take on things. I had a Word from God in the area, but now I had to work out something completely different. It caused a problem, but that was why I was lead to write so much about overcoming earlier on in the day. It was the time to put that to practice.
It was with that mindset that I approached the day today contemplating how to overcome this problem.
So as I took on board the lyrical content of This Is The Time especially the chorus it set things up for the day and had a massive bearing on the two mile walk from my home to the train station.
I was taken to think about the role of praise in the bigger scheme of things and it reminded me that in coming to God with a problem, the deal is first and foremost I need to acknowledge who I am approaching. Therein lies the power of the chorus –
Holy, Holy, Holy is Your Name
Worthy, Worthy, let all the earth proclaim
Mighty, Mighty there is no God like You
And we worship You in Spirit and in Truth
This is God I’m approaching here – Holy, Worthy and Mighty – just the tip of the significant iceberg of His character. Then on greater reflection I thought about how to approach and acknowledge God. Almost as though I’m invited to an audience with the Creator of the Universe.
If I’m visiting royalty I wouldn’t just see the majesty as the first thing. There is a process and procedure to go through before seeing the top dude. I thought in reference to the Almighty that through His Word I’d get to see some of the Faith Hall of Fame and get an idea of some of the big players in this royalty.
I’d get to see the likes of Methuselah, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Joshua, Gideon, Samuel, David, Elijah, Elisha, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Nehemiah, Ezra, John the Baptist, Peter, John, Paul and so many others. Not only would I see their profiles in the Faith Hall of Fame it would also highlight the mighty works of God through them.
That in itself would be mind-blowing, astonishing and enough to get me all humbled and honoured to approach His Majesty. For all that though, there’s every likelihood that the problem would still be prominent in the back of my mind.
Yet if I were not blown away by the works of God through the Faith Hall of Fame, then I’d get to see the warm-up act before the main event – which I’ll let you in on in a future blog entry.
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
