Songs reflecting the good and bad times and the call to still praise and worship the Creator are tough songs to write, but relieving songs to sing. They’re tough to write, because the cost of going through the experiences you write about are necessarily tough. Going through them, though, and seeing God’s faithfulness even in unanswered questions and a broken heart are somehow consolation enough for what you’ve gone through. That’s why I respect Redman for writing a song like this. You don’t jump at the song’s chorus and leave it at that. You consider the panoramic vision it offers for a Christian’s worship life, then you again realise that this commitment to the song requires something deeper than surface praise.
