Dear Jesus – Walter Hawkins

First up, what I like about this particular track is the crackly sound it makes as though you’re listening to it on vinyl perhaps in the classic gramophones (man I still think using a CD is so 20th Century, you can imagine my horror at the thought of reverting back to the old LP’s).

This is a song that reminds me of my childhood, listening to these kind of songs and falling in love (I only fall in love when it comes to music, you know) with the rich sound of the music and the choir as lead by the stunning singer whoever he or she may be.  No need to get hung up on pursuing technological brilliance, more of a tendency of pursuing vocal purity and mastery in praise of God and underpinning it all as I discovered only as things began making more (and less) sense that lyrical simplicity and power.

This song is a great example of it.  It comes at a time where I am finding my part in little shifts here and there to encourage the return Christianity back to Jesus Christ (what a novel idea, whatever next?  Maybe churches where everyone is encouraged to minister one to another in the hope of building each other up to be like Jesus.  Ahhh I live in hope.  The biblical/godly kind, obviously.)  It’s good to share the sentiment of this song because as a previous selection pointed out, it’s really all about Jesus.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
