It’s the end of another exhausting day of work and family responsibilities and I catch a glimpse of myself looking a bit low and tired and drawn almost as if I’m about to ask the question, what’s the use? I then am reminded of Jesus Christ and His love and mission and I am reminded of this beautiful song. I encounter people every day, especially in my line of work, who have no idea who they really are. People blinded by different pursuits dragging them into cycles of hopelessness, despair and apathy. People who have no real knowledge of joy and are stuck in the rat-race, not realising there is a redeemer, there is a liberator, there is One who cares more than they’ll ever know and offers them a chance to join God’s family and find their true location as God’s Son.
I give thanks and remember that the love that drove Jesus to the cross, is the same one that stops me wallowing in despondency. I need the Lord – people need the Lord. Thank God for Jesus.
