You Can’t Hurry Love … Or God

One of the things I’m really aware of in this life business is that timing is everything.  I love comedians and other funny folk who have got their timing right.  That timing can turn a lame punchline into a chestnut cracker that gets people laughing in the aisles until they are weak.

When it comes to God and timing I’m so keen to get it right.  I’ll probably tend more towards getting God too late rather than too early.  Of course I have my impetuous moments and rash words and decisions made, but I’m only too aware of the allure of procrastination.  Why do today what can be put off until tomorrow is a refrain that’s fairly familiar to me.  Yet the timing remains crucial – get it right and it’s like it was all set up for that moment to benefit as well as you did.  I have been the beneficiary of this sort of thing and it it one of the most sublime feelings in the world.

Not surprisingly, getting the timing wrong can be immensely frustrating and disappointing.  Thus there are elements in which it’s crucial to be patient, and likewise it’s important to be ready to pounce and not let the opportunity pass you by.

Now how do I get that timing right.

Just wondering, that is all.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
