Ah. Daryl Coley. Many brilliant gospel vocalists. Only one Daryl Coley. Inimitable. Doesn’t begin to cover it with a character like him. He is simply majestic in his creative use of the vocal chords that he’s obviously been blessed by God. I’m not sure if I’ll ever get to see him in a live convert setting, but if that doesn’t happen, there are deposits like this that bring tremendous spiritual sustenance to the soul.
Yeah marvel at the vocal dexterity, control and power, but check what he’s singing about as well. When you read when Paul says that in Philippians it fills you up with all sorts of emotions. How can your life mean so much and so little that you’re only living as to Christ? How can you get to the point where it’s almost as if whatever people do to you is just an opportunity to either see Christ glorified in your perseverance or to see Christ glorified in you going asleep in preparation for Him to wake you with that first trumpet’s call. Amazing thought. Oh how I long …
In the meantime these songs can bring us back to those biblical truths that life should be lived in the light of the Saviour of our soul who empowers us to do what He’s called us to do until He calls us home.
