Yesterday saw the launch of the latest series on the blog looking at New Life. What would a blog series be without a musical theme for it? Well it wouldn’t be the first to be honest. In fact, this is the first series with a musical theme, to it, but it was a good set-up in my head.
Anyway, a song that has been strongly associated with the theme of New Life funnily enough comes from the New Life Community Choir as directed by one of my gospel favourites John P. Kee. And how fitting that the theme from the choir should be called by the same name.
I am challenged by the lyrics of the song. I am challenged by knowing the fact that I did nothing to earn it and what it means to me is beyond what words can convey. So in the light of everything else, this far overwhelms any other issue. That the grace of God through Jesus Christ should be expressed in giving us new life is something that should arrest thought right there. In relation to that individual thing as well, I’m glad for the thought that He hasn’t given just me, but He’s given us New Life. Others have tears streaming down their eyes and live in perpetual gratitude for the outstanding gift of all time.
So it is more than fitting that at the start of the new series, the song that expresses the sentiments well should kick things off.
For His Name’s Sake
