Why I Keep Blogging

I was minding my own business when I came across some blogs recommended by someone I follow.  I noticed that one blog had their last entry in March … 2007.  It triggered in me the desire just to briefly explain why I keep blogging.  This may not be the last time I write on the subject and it’s unlikely to be comprehensive at this time as I intend to just leave something for the record.

I started blogging in 2005 because my dear friend Charles Bury was blogging.  He did it for the journeys he was making and was more than content to leave it at that after the journeys were over.  As you may have noticed the only journey this has covered is the one of my life and thoughts.  Since moving over to WordPress I’ve been able to check how many people view the blog and been happy to see the site get regular views from time to time and high ratings through letting friends know of what’s going on and the such like.

Yet I don’t blog primarily to gain an audience.  I’m sure that’s blogging anathema right there, because it’s meant to be about thinking about the audience, but really I like the log concept of the thing – that in actuality whether people read it or not, like it or not, comment or not, this serves as a log of activities of what’s been going on with me over the time of the writing.  I like thinking, I like reading, I like writing and this blog allows me to leave an electronic deposit of those developments that I can recollect in years to come and others I know can also check in on what’s been going on.  I like that element of the blogging process and that’s why I keep blogging.  I’ve like the consistency I’ve picked up recently and want it to continue, because I like the opportunity to do so and work on keeping on with what I love doing.

As life changes and commitments come to bear, I’m not sure how that will affect things, but at least there is now and enjoying what can be done now, and I just want to keep doing that until told to do otherwise.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
