Important Changes To Note!

I interrupt the regular stream of blog posts that have been going up like clock-work at 20:10 every day for quite some time (almost as if I had pre-arranged it …) to report on some changes.

Now you’re aware that this is quite a busy season for changes for me over the last few months and that has affected the blogging.  At the beginning of the year I transferred this blog from Blogger to this here WordPress business.  Lately I’ve been thinking about further changes to the blogging portfolio.  You may not be aware but when I was in Stoke I partially maintained the blog for the church there, but as a sign of moving on it felt right to bring that blog to an end.  So that’s what I’ve done.

I also used to have a kind of devotional site called Life Journey Notes, which I used as the outlet for what was called Daily Thoughts that I emailed when I worked for the North Staffs YMCA.  I enjoyed the challenge of LJN which was basically to put a thought together that did not exceed 100 words.  I used to post these in fits and starts like coinciding with the Black History Month in October or when I did March Thru Proverbs in … get this … the month of March.  (Amazing that isn’t it?)  Now the thing about blogging particularly that commends itself is regularity.  Weekly, daily, or whatever, if people know that the material on the site is constantly being refreshed it encourages people to visit the blog more.  If however it works on fits and starts then that’s not so good.  I still want to do the LJN concept, but I cannot guarantee regularity for it which can make the blog look kinda … well … kinda not right.

Now as you noticed I’m not working for the North Staffs YMCA anymore.  In fact I’m in between jobs … So in the interim period I have the opportunity to reorganise writing to make it as effective as possible.  So as it felt right to call an end to the StokeCOGblog, so it was right to call an end to LJN … with a difference.  This crazy blogging system allows me to gazumple (great word, I was going to use ‘swallow’ but that suggests digestion) the site.  So the material that did bedeck the LJN site can be found in the archives of this very blog.  Yes that’s right, it’s gone, but it’s not forgotten – it lives on through this very site.

Considering that change and also thinking through some of the developments that I’m pondering, it got me thinking about the appearance of this site and even how it’s presented.  That’s why I’ve taken the decision to change the name of the site from Wotsup With Da Man CD, which worked in 2005, to Life With Da Man CD.  Why?  Well I can continue LJN through here and it lives on through the ‘Life’ bit and it marks a shift from trying to be down and funky ‘get the Wotsup homies’, to being more like meself which involves some devotional material and the occasional series on things as well as the usual updates on what me life is like.

To cap it off there’s the obvious change to the lay-out of the blog.  Now when I transferred from Blogger and looked at the first template for the site I thought it was cool.  Fairly dark and brooding, very much up my street.  However after further pondering and taking advice from folks who do this blogging business better than I do, it became clear that dark and brooding works for Batman, but doesn’t work for people trying to read the blog.  Therefore the change from dark and brooding to something a bit more lighter but no less contemplative.  It wasn’t easy to come to this decision, they do spoil us with choice for templates to use on here, so as with a lot of things in the blogging business of dmcd, it’s a decision still up for grabs.

Now what does that mean for the audio material that I referred to recently?  Well what that means is that rather than being put on LJN, I’ll be posting them on this blog.  Yes, that’s right, this very blog.  So expect in the not too distant future some audio material posted here.  (You know I initially typed ‘hear’ as opposed to ‘here’ which must be some Freudian slip … or was it?)

So plenty of changes and as with me life at present, you can guarantee – should the Lord will and we live (remember?) – that there will be more changes ahead.  I hope they won’t prove to be too distracting to you and if you check some of the posts from the last half of 2009 you can see how it’s part of the journey and it’s all for the best … eventually.

Keep praying and keep it right here for your regular updates on wotsup … I mean how’s Life with da man cd.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
