Where Do I Go From Here? Text

So yesterday gave the basis of how important it is to realise that whatever happens in life, it is important not to be presumptuous but likewise to seek guidance and direction in knowing there is somewhere I’m meant to be going.

This brings me back to the issue of where I am now, where do I go from here.  The song above sung from my man Marvin who is definitely the flavour of the blog at the moment (and I am not finished with him just yet!) sums up the position clearly.  Lord you lead me, where do I go from here, make my pathway clear, I need your direction to make the right selection, lead me and I will follow.

In the light of that if the Lord will and I live I’m looking to be further focussed on further series of explorations of who God is and who I am in the light of who He is.  That will take the form, for the time being, of a study of the book of Ephesians.  It won’t be a straightforward ‘DMCD commentary’ but a more personal engaging with the scripture to find out what it says and then take it from there to see how it’s applied or any other thing that should jump out of it for my benefit and hopefully yours as well.

This is no mere book reading exercise, but a concerted effort to engage with the Word and what is revealed from it to get clear direction.  For me at present it is a wilderness period where the distractions are stripped away and it’s time to find out again who God is from the basics and strengthen those foundations as other developments (like a child due in April) move into being.

That study is not a hard fast devotion to Ephesians alone as it might sprout into other areas, but I intend to start there soon (probably next week) and then see what happens from there.  That hopefully should allow me to know what I believe in a clear written format and help express the basis and basics of my belief.

As ever I look to put content on the other place and have a number ideas for that as well involving book reviews and also analysing some music tracks that have come to my attention.  In terms of an outlet for the cultural connecting points it works a treat and whether it’s movies, books, pro-wrestling, football, music or other related issues, there will always be something to write.  I want to use it as a connecting point to get people thinking and engaging with positive material and also sowing seeds that will get people thinking more about the real meaning of life.

With the commitment again to more focussed Word study and application I also hope to be able to start LJN up properly with whatever nuggets come out of the devotionals, or indeed what might come up in the devotional readings I do on a daily basis.

Without being too ambitious unnecessarily as well as the search for an understanding of the individual identity there is also a desire to get a better idea of the church identity.  With the world and culture moving along as stated in terms of its self-reliance and establishment of different gods, it becomes ever clearer to be distinct as the beacon of God’s love so people can be in no doubt there is a witness.  So I want to explore and discover more of what God’s church that is unblemished and spotless looks like in relational terms in facing each other and outwards to a hostile world.

Everyone has a book in them and I’m aware that there maybe a few lurking in the crevices of my mind waiting to come out.  At the moment however I want to develop some sort of consistency in writing on a particular subject and especially in terms of the series developed for the blogs I want to show an ability to write as led which expresses the truths in compelling fashion that is accessible without compromise.  Last year was good progress and so far there’s much to recommend the signs so far, but it’s nothing to get over excited about and rush into things unnecessarily.  So it is a case of waiting and seeing.

In the meantime however, it’s not just in the area of text work where I believe I’m going as I’m being lead, as the next entry will expand on …

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
