Fred Hammond – Tribute and Tributes

Sometimes I free-blog.  Now that means nothing to you as a reader because understandably as far as you’re concerned I should take the time to proof-read what I’ve written before publishing it.  There are times when I’ll write the blog on me word document program before uploading the document to transfer the text to the blog and then publish.  That, as you can appreciate, is quite some prep work and with the links and any YouTube clips that be some time to put it together.  A free-blog is when I just open up a new post on this here WordPress gizmo and just type.

This here is a free-blog inspired by the tracks of the last post about Commissioned’s brilliant song ‘You Keep On Blessing Me’. Whilst I came across the track I also saw a related track which had Fred Hammond giving a tribute to Stevie Wonder by doing Wonder’s ‘Higher Ground’.  Now when you get a guy I love covering a track from a guy I love then you have the makings of a quality piece of music on your hands.  To then listen to it and know that the brother has done justice to the track gives that satisfied grin of someone who has just enjoyed a good meal.  Now I could post some tracks from Fred … and I will in line with the old Thank God for … series as you remember it, but it’s worth just drinking this track in.

So I’m beaming like the proverbial Cheshire Cat at the brother doing a tribute to a brother that I love, only to find that the brother himself has been given a tribute of his own.  So I check it out and it’s in line of giving to honour to a brother that has done really well.  Sometimes these kind of affairs from my American cousins can be a bit over the top and slapping on as much cliche as possible.  Taking that into consideration this is still worthwhile viewing and a suitable tribute to an outstanding innovator in the field of gospel music – remind me to do a bigger piece on the brother.  Until then, have yourselves a ball … on me.

For His Name Sake

Shalom
