So I have been blogging fairly well over at the other place – what with a general football review here and a Rafa reflection there not forgetting a big up to Law and Order right there, but over here it has not been as busy. Not to worry, there will be a change.
It’s interesting that I mention Law and Order, because that links into a mini-series I will be posting about in the days to come about Spiritual Intent (that’s contrasted to Criminal Intent which is among the best TV programmes around at the moment). It’s been a theme that’s been bugging me for the last few days and if you need a scripture to hang your hat on check Psalm 119:11 – just click and it should take you to a fairly familiar scripture and you’ll see the connection with what spiritual intent is all about, very soon.
In the meantime in as much as th other place is a place where I love slapping on some good old YouTube clips and the like, I recall that last year I was wont to do that and eased up on it. Now in this new day as it were, I still want to ensure the blog remains as text driven as anything rather than video or image driven, but I recognise that images, sound and video are effective in conveying some important thing.
One of the amazing things about the nature of God is love. God doesn’t love – God is love. Definitions of love apart from Him are lacking in getting the gist of what’s all about. Likewise definitions that believe it is Him plus some other stuff miss out on the definition of love. The expression of God as love is seen in the concept of grace. I often consider how God loves me despite myself – not because of myself and when I think about it I’m drawn to this song from Commissioned. As with all beauties check the lyrics for the motivation.
I learn here a part of what keeps a true mother’s love going – it is that you cannot help it, because the child that was in the womb is as much a part of you as a limb or the brain. To disassociate from the child is like trying to cut off the limb – painful and greatly missed afterwards. So regardless of what the child does the love is there. I know that’s not the case for all mothers and my point is that God as love goes much further than that, for here is His creation rebelling against him at every turn and with a natural predisposition to oppose Him and His response is His Son, His Spirit, His Word – Himself.
Now there’s still the opportunity to reject all that and there will be a necessary response to that likewise in the end, but in the meantime He rains on the just and on the unjust – He shines on the righteous and the unrighteous. For someone with some awareness of that it is all the more humbling and the reason why it’s so good to know the Saviour.
For your watching enjoyment it was more than fitting to have this live version of such a brilliant track as well. Sure it’s rough in the edges in terms of the camera work and audio, but it’s worth watching and enjoying.
As you do so the point is this as creatures made in the image of God, love is not something done for the purpose of being loved, but out of the reality of already being loved by one who loves you … despite yourself.
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
